Pakalana

This flower was brought to Hawaii by Chinese immigrants and is also known as the Chinese Violet. It has very thick greenish petals and a wonderful sweet fragrance. It is harvested from late spring to autumn, and the fragrance is strongest in the early morning and evening. When the flowers first bloom, they are green, but as the days go by, they turn slightly yellow. In Japan, they are called "Yaraikou" (night fragrant flower) because they are especially fragrant at night.
