Introducing the flowers used in this arrangement

Plumeria

It is a very familiar flower in Hawaii and has a sweet, gentle fragrance. The flower's meaning is,

"Elegance," "Passion," "Blessed," "Sunny," and "Enthusiasm" are the characteristics that define Hawaii.

It is a flower that has been loved for a long time. It also carries the meaning of "wishing for the happiness of a loved one," so it is often chosen as a gift for women and loved ones.

Ohia Lehua

A shrub that grows wild in the Hawaiian Islands and its flower. The rugged trunk is called ohia, and the delicate flower that blooms on the tree is called lehua. The ohia lehua tree is full of vitality and sprouts even on dry lava. It produces bright red flowers, but they are not crowns but a collection of many red stamens.

In Hawaiian legend, Pele, the goddess of volcanoes, fell in love with the young man Ohia, but Ohia already had a lover called Lehua, so she rejected him. Pele got angry and turned Ohia into an ugly tree, so the other gods took pity on Lehua and turned him into a beautiful flower that blooms on the tree. There is also a legend that if you pick the Ohia Lehua flower, it will rain, and the rain is said to be the tears of lovers who were separated.

Ti Leaf

In fact, there is no plant called ti leaf. The term "ti leaf" refers to the leaf part of the "ti" plant.

Ti leaf, which has meanings of "protection," "purification," and "amulet," is a sacred plant offered to the gods in Hawaii and has been used during deep prayers at funerals, religious ceremonies, and festivals.

It is deeply rooted in everyday life, and most Hawaiian homes have ti leaves planted or hung as wreaths on their doors. This is to ward off evil spirits, so it is considered bad luck for ti leaves to wither.

Tilea is also used medicinally and has antiseptic and sedative properties.

Ti leaves are an indispensable and important plant to Hawaiians, and are used in cooking by wrapping food in them for steaming or as tableware.

Ti leaves are also used in the leis and skirts of hula, a dance offered to the goddess.
